Serhii, a former student, shares his remarkable experience preparing for the CELPIP test.
Despite initial struggles, his determination and strategic preparation helped him improve his Listening score from CLB 4 to CLB 6—a key milestone on his journey to permanent residency and a better life in Canada. Here’s his inspiring story.
"One of the biggest difficulties I faced was the listening section," Serhii shared.
"The fast-paced conversations made it tricky to catch key details. I also struggled with time management, especially in the writing section.
The pressure to express clear, well-structured answers within a strict time limit was overwhelming at first."
"I focused a lot on listening," Serhii explained.
"I practiced with CELPIP-style audio recordings and transcripts, and I replayed them multiple times to understand every nuance.
Recording myself during speaking practice also helped me fine-tune my delivery."
Before committing to our program, Serhii took trial lessons at seven different schools.
He explained, "I wanted to find the best fit for my learning style, so I explored various options.
What stood out about this course was its structured approach and the deep analysis of my responses provided by the CELPIP instructor.
The feedback wasn’t generic—it was tailored to my specific needs and weaknesses, which made all the difference."
"For me, balancing preparation with my job was the hardest part," Serhii admitted.
"Finding time and energy after work wasn’t easy, but the structure of the course helped me stay consistent."
"My biggest achievement was jumping from CLB 4 to CLB 6 in listening," he said proudly.
"It showed me that hard work and targeted practice can lead to significant improvement."
"Start early and focus on your weaknesses," Serhii advised.
"Listen to as much English audio as possible—podcasts, news, and conversations.
Also, don’t underestimate the importance of mock tests to build familiarity with the exam format."
"The first mock test was a turning point," Serhii shared.
"It revealed exactly where I stood and what I needed to improve. After that, I started practicing with more focus and consistency."
"I dedicated 6–8 hours per week to preparation," Serhii said.
"I made sure to balance time across listening, reading, writing, and speaking, with a little extra effort in listening to push my score higher."
"I was nervous but prepared," Serhii admitted.
"Taking deep breaths and focusing on one task at a time helped me stay calm.
My preparation gave me confidence that I could handle the challenges."
"Passing CELPIP and improving my Listening score from CLB 4 to CLB 6 has brought me closer to permanent residency in Canada," Serhii said with excitement.
"It’s opened new opportunities for my career and given me a clear path to building a stable future for my family in Canada. It’s a life-changing achievement."
Serhii’s story shows that significant improvement is possible with determination, practice, and the right resources.
